Traffic lights - amamede´s painting

Traffic lights - amamede´s painting
Traffic lights (semáforos)

Mixed media on canvas

52x72

If there is a place where surrealism and imagination naturally combine, it is the traffic lights on the pavements of our cities.

This piece is dominated by red circles, a colour which in nature is a signal for warning, alarm or danger. Red (blood is the laughter of Mars) is also a colour used by many animals to scare off their enemies. This colour has the same meaning for humans in the traffic lights of our cities. Less numerous green circles announce their opposition to the red ones. Bright oranges and discreet blues mitigate the background, bringing chromatic balance to the painting.
